This project will focus on the improving the investigation, data collection and distribution of data related to infant fatality in Canyon County Idaho. Canyon County has an existing Child Fatality Review team that has met regularly at various intervals since 2012. This team has partnered with Boise State University since its inception in an effort to maximize its mission of being a multidisciplinary entity focusing on identifying and preventing child fatalities within the county. Over the years there have sometimes been inconsistencies in scene investigation and data collection. This project, if funded, will allow the team to vastly improve the consistency and quality of the data collected during infant death investigations, collaborate with the National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention and utilize its database, and also produce timely communication related to infant death issues with both internal (law enforcement, child protection, health care partners) and external (community) members of the county.
