National Partnerships to Promote Cancer Surveillance Standards and Support Data Quality and Operations of National Program of Cancer Registries Cancer Data Standards Integration (Component 1) - NAACCR is applying for Component 1: Cancer Data Standards Integration of National Partnerships to Promote Cancer Surveillance Standards and Support Data Quality and Operations of National Program of Cancer Registries. NAACCR will work collaboratively with the NPCR leadership and other component partners to develop standards, guidelines, and processes to improve NPCR data collection and exchange and to ensure uniform cancer data surveillance standards and interoperability with national healthcare data standards to support NPCR registries. NAACCR will utilize its existing committee and work group structure and subject matter experts to coordinate the development of cancer surveillance data standards and evaluate the alignment of those standards with current and emerging national healthcare data standards. NAACCR will provide education and guidance to NPCR registries through webinars and guidance documents to ensure they have the skills and tools necessary to perform high-quality registry operations, including efficient and high-quality data collection and exchange. NAACCR will work with NPCR and the other component partners to produce the following outcomes: • Increase collaboration and communication among cancer reporting sources, NPCR registries and CDC. • Improve change management processes for population-based cancer data item development, collection, and registry operations. • Increase knowledge of NPCR registries and reporters on cancer data informatics and modernization and its application to population-based cancer surveillance. • Improve cancer data item development and interoperability of NAACCR standards with common healthcare data standards. We expect these activities will improve the capacity, efficiency and flexibility of NPCR to collect timely, accurate and actionable cancer surveillance data, in order to reduce cancer incidence, mortality and disparities in cancer care and survival.
