A proposal for Component 3; Electronic Cancer Pathology and Laboratory Reporting - The College of American Pathologists (CAP) proposes to fulfill the requirements of National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion: CDC-RFA-DP-23-0008, which is titled “National Partnership to Promote Cancer Surveillance Standards and Support Data Quality and Operations of National Program of Cancer Registries.” CAP is applying for Component 3, which addresses “Electronic Cancer Pathology and Laboratory Reporting.” CAP has worked with CDC, AJCC, NAACCR and others in this area for more than 15 years. We hope to continue to build upon recent innovations and successes to improve cancer reporting. CAP will fulfill the RFA requirements that apply to all components as well as Component 3, targeted to Laboratory and biomarker electronic reporting. The CAP proposes to engage in a range of activities designed to improve the data quality and operations of NPCR. These activities will build upon our previous collaborative work in developing and disseminating standards for structured pathology data. Future activities include continued production of the paper and electronic CAP cancer protocols (CCPs) and eCPs), enhancement of our Single Source Product (SSP) CCP/eCP publishing tools, further improvement of our quality programs for content development and eCP vendor/EHR implementation, and growth of our Structured Data Capture (SDC) open-source tools, transmission protocols, and training/testing programs.
