REACH LoWELL seeks to eliminate disparities among the Southeast Asian and Hispanic/LatinX communities as well as other minority and homeless populations in the Greater Lowell, MA area. REACH LoWELL includes culturally tailored health promotion activities and increased community-wide education, with the aim of increasing knowledge of health care systems.REACH LoWELL partners include: African Community Center (ACC), Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association (CMAA), Coalition for a Better Acre (CBA), Dwelling House of Hope, Faith-based Organizations (FBOs), Greater Lowell Health Alliance (GLHA), LatinX Community Center for Empowerment (LCCE), Life Connection Center (LCC), Lowell Adult Education Center (LAEC), Lowell Health Department (LHD), and Massachusetts Association of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) among others.Lowell Community Health Center (Lowell CHC), via REACH LoWELL will improve COVID-19/Flu vaccination acceptance among racial and ethnic, and other marginalized groups experiencing disparities in the Greater Lowell, MA area. The impact of COVID-19/Flu on the poor, immigrants, and communities of color is exposing long-standing health disparities that make underserved populations especially at risk. By expanding the scope of REACH LoWELL to include COVID-19 related activities, this project will provide a roadmap for targeted messaging and increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine as it becomes widely available.REACH LoWELL COVID-19/Flu supplement will include the following key activities:1.COVID-19/Flu community leadership meetings co-led with Greater Lowell Health Alliance2.Implement a COVID-19/Flu vaccination education outreach program in collaboration with Community-based and faith-based organizations informed by data gathered as well as lessons learned throughout the COVID pandemic and REACH Flu supplement3.Recruit Influential Messengers (Cultural Advisor Consultants) to serve as cultural brokers in the community and advise REACH LoWELL on comm unity engagement efforts to improve COVID-19/Flu vaccine hesitancy4.Develop and distribute culturally tailored COVID-19/Flu education and promotion kits to local businesses and faith-based organizations serving target populations5.Develop a series of community and provider discussions on COVID-19/Flu education and promotion (remote/in-person)6.Host community based COVID-19/Flu promotion events within target populations (remote/in-person)7.Explore technology solution to equip CBOs to provide access to vaccination appointmentsProgram outcomes include:"Increased knowledge of COVID-19/Flu vaccine safety and efficacy"Improve COVID-19/Flu vaccine confidence"Increased number of access points for COVID-19/Flu vaccination"Increased number of trained trusted community-level spokespersons"Increased satisfaction and engagement among stakeholders and community membersFor more information please contact REACHLoWELL@Lchealth.org
