Wellness Initiative for Student Success (WISS) - The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education proposes to provide statewide infrastructure support, high quality professional development and training, and targeted technical assistance statewide and to 6 priority local education agencies, to implement the WSCC framework as a mechanism to advance health promoting policies and practices in schools. This project will leverage existing partnerships with the Department of Public Health and our statewide wellness coalition to measurably reduce health inequities by targeting the precedent health risk behaviors, including fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity. We anticipate that programming will nearly 42,000 students in priority LEAs, with additional students and educators being impacted through professional development, training and technical assistance provided statewide.
