The United American Indian Involvement, Inc. (UAII) will plan, develop, and implement a project designed to increase communication, exchange cultural knowledge, increase cultural awareness, and promote healthy activity for urban American Indians and Alaska Natives (AIAN) living in Los Angeles County. This project will integrate current programs and services that have been viable and legitimate within our current client population. The project will focus on 3 primary strategies that will yield short and long-term outcomes. At the core of each strategy will be the rooted in the successful outcomes of our clients as they build on the resiliency of previous generations as we look inward to improve opportunities for future generations while relying on our elders, our many cultures and languages, and emphasis on balance and harmony that could improve the health and wellness of our community.The goals and objectives of the program include:1) Provide mentorship, leadership and cultural awareness that promotes American Indian/Alaskan Native identity; building confidence in cultural identity.2) Increase physical activity and promote health and wellness of all community memberparticipants.3) Establish opportunities that increase intergenerational connections that allow fortraditional conference of knowledge through communication and interactions between elders and youth; while increasing the leadership and mentorship between generations.4) Continue to provide outlets for cultural reconnection, community participation, whileincreasing awareness of resources. UAII will continue to remain responsive to emerging issues and modern challenges of our community.
