Project Abstract Summary
Title: Tuberculosis Elimination and Laboratory Cooperative Agreement.
Purpose: Conduct statewide surveillance of tuberculosis within Ohio, including maintaining the statewide TB disease registry; Provide technical assistance and expert clinical consultation to local TB control units and TB providers; Offer financial opportunities to offset costs associated with providing TB care; Provide case management for active TB cases in Ohio; Offer resources and guidance to local TB Control Units on contact investigations; Ensure continuity of care for individuals with TB moving out of jurisdiction; Support investigation of TB cases, clusters and outbreaks; Conduct regional and local training, including on-site visits, to address specific needs; Establish and maintain collaboration with the American Lung Association of Ohio to coordinate the incentives, enablers, and emergency housing program and the Ohio TB Staff Development Fund.
Outcomes: Decreases in TB incidence; Increases in patients completing treatment within 12 months; Increases in HIV and drug susceptibility testing; Increases in latent TB infection evaluation and treatment for TB contacts and other targeted populations; Increases in accuracy and completeness of surveillance, genotyping, and whole-genome sequencing data; Decreases in turnaround times for laboratory testing; Implementation of TB elimination strategies.
