The New Hampshire (NH) Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Public Health Services (DPHS) will maintain public health capability to prevent, control and eventually eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in New Hampshire. Funds from this award will be used to support the care and treatment of people diagnosed with TB disease and high-risk latent TB infection (LTBI) through the development of human resources with improved training, education, and information dissemination; support systems for patients through incentives, enablers, and financial assistance programs; and strengthen laboratory capacity to ensure that timely and reliable TB laboratory services are available to all healthcare providers. As a low-incident state that only receives state funds to support a small TB financial assistance program, NH DPHS will approach all activities in an integrated manner to best maximize the reach, impact, efficiency and sustainability of TB prevention, control, and elimination efforts. NH DPHS will also focus on maintaining a basic public health infrastructure for TB services as a fundamental component of achieving success in this program.
