The purpose of this five-year application is to maintain public health capability to prevent, control and eventually eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in New Hampshire (NH). NH is a low-incident jurisdiction that receives very limited state funds to support local and state health departments in their efforts to prevent and control illness, and support the care and treatment of people diagnosed with TB disease and high risk latent TB infection (LTBI). Funds from this award will be used to support the development of human resources through improved training and education, communication and information dissemination; and strengthen laboratory capacity to ensure timely and reliable TB laboratory services are available to healthcare providers. We must acknowledge we cannot accomplish all we would like due to limitations in funding. However, we will approach all activities in an integrated manner to best maximize the reach, impact, efficiency and sustainability of our efforts. An emphasis on maintaining basic public health infrastructure is essential to the success of this program.
