This project primarily aims to strengthen Bhutan's capacity in surveillance and response to avian, seasonal and pandemic influenza, and further will also enable to sustain the surveillance activities at least for five years. The project will focus more on strengthening coordination and collaboration between the national and Global surveillance networks. Further, efforts will be put in to align the project's key activities in meeting the objectives of the global Influenza surveillance network. The project will broadly operate on the four strategies; Infrastructure, epidemiological surveillance, laboratory surveillance and pandemic preparedness. It will also ensure that the surveillance data is effectively translated to information through quality data analysis process and the information is eventually used in policy decision making. Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) will be considered as one of the important tools to assess the project progress, and the findings and recommendations emanated from the M&E will be given the top priorities in order to efficiently implement the project's activities. Although, the project is specific to Influenza surveillance and response, efforts will undertaken to make it more dynamic and comprehensive in light of leveraging its resources to respond similar pandemic. The lessons learnt from the current COVID-19 pandemic will remain as the vital information for the project in order to tweak its activities to efficiently respond any scales of influenza events.
