ELC for Infectious Diseases - Building and Strengthening Epidemiology, Laboratory, and HealthInformation Capacity in State and Local Health Departments - Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will utilize funding from this cooperative agreement to continue enhancing infectious disease prevention and control in Kansas through improved capability in epidemiologic practices, laboratory testing, and integration of health information systems. Support for ELC Leadership, Management and Administration is requested as well as continued support for the enteric, waterborne, and zoonotic diseases program; the healthcare associated infections and antimicrobial resistance program; the VPD and respiratory disease program; and the vector-borne diseases and tick-associated conditions programs. Additionally, ongoing support is requested for the mycotics, rabies, and SETNET projects. Support for these program and projects will enhance surveillance and allow better detection of outbreaks, thereby improving response and decreasing morbidity.
