Goal: Support efforts to enhance infectious disease epidemiology, laboratory, and entomology capacity, enabling state, local, and territorial public health agencies to respond adeptly to both existing and emerging (or re-emerging) infectious diseases. Objective: Maintain a proficient public health workforce for swift detection, response, and prevention of infectious diseases. Enhance capacity for epidemiological investigation and reporting, optimize laboratory testing capabilities, and foster collaborations among the Office of Epidemiology, the MS Public Health Laboratory, and regional/local health departments for efficient outbreak response and accurate data reporting.
