Mycoplasma genitalium Infection in the US (MyGeniUS) is a demonstration project to implement sentinel surveillance of M. genitalium (MG) prevalence and MG antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in sexual health clinics across the United States. The University of Washington serves as the coordinating center and it has been funded by Hologic, Inc. since its inception in 2020. Hologic funding will continue through October 2023, with a no-cost extension through December 2023.
The Washington State Department of Health (WA DOH) ELC grant via a subrecipient contract will serve as the funding mechanism to continue this work at the University of Washington. This proposal outlines the background and need for implementing MG surveillance, the rationale for ongoing surveillance, and the proposed technical approach to do that in 2024.
