BRHWC Workforce Capacity Building - The unique culture, characteristics, and economic conditions of the indigenous populations requires that tribal communities sacrifice quality and lose access to modern resources – which contributes to disproportionate services and health disparities. This program will allow the Bad River Health & Wellness Center (BRHWC) to tailor a program that would address the unique barriers to recruiting and training public health organization professionals in a rural, tribal community. Through this program, the Bad River community would receive improved quality care and see improvements in public health services. This quality improvement effort will include addressing two of the program’s strategies: 1) Foundational Public Health Capabilities, and 2) Workforce. Activities that will be implemented to fill the community’s gaps will be improving health and human resources data, create training and competency programs to ensure a competent workforce, create Mashkiiziibii (Bad River Tribe) cultural training videos to share with new hires, focus on recruitment activities to attract applicants, and establish relationships for hosting post-graduate programs. Investment into this project will strengthen the quality and performance of the BRHWC, in turn, reducing health disparities for its rural, indigenous community.
