Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes - The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes is a Federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribe and was established in 1867 by an Executive order; located in Southeastern Idaho on the Fort Hall Reservation. The CDC announces a five-year cooperative agreement for eligible AI/AN federally recognized Tribal governments. The purpose of this agreement is to strengthen the quality, performance, and infrastructure of tribal public health systems including workforce, data and information systems, and programs and services. A big challenge identified on the Fort Hall reservation and the AI/AN population is the ability to access timely and accurate data to efficiently serve the community. The last comprehensive needs assessment completed for the target population was the 2014 Idaho American Indian & Alaska Native Community Health Profile. The ultimate outcome is to improve public health services in quality of care in comparison to AI/AN baseline data and regional data; improve communication and collaboration amongst the community, tribal leaders, and other partners to support prevention, health and well-being via data infrastructure modernization.
