CICC Tribal Public Health Program - Tribal Overdose Prevention Program - The project aims to enhance public health systems and services within the Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians, a rural tribal community facing various health challenges. Through the implementation of foundational public health capabilities, the project seeks to address prevalent health issues such as diabetes, obesity, heart diseases, alcoholism, drug abuse, and respiratory diseases. By collecting and utilizing foundational data, the project will develop and maintain electronic information systems to guide tribal public health planning and decision-making. This will enable the identification and prioritization of public health activities specific to the community's needs. The project will foster collaboration and partnerships among key stakeholders, including the Colusa Indian Health Clinic (CIHC), Tribal Council, Community Services Department, Tribal Village Maintenance, Department of Cultural Preservation, and grant administrators. These partnerships will facilitate the development and delivery of culturally appropriate health education, wellness programs, and preventative interventions. To ensure the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the program, rigorous evaluation and performance measurement processes will be implemented. Performance measures will be collected, and evaluation findings will be utilized to inform program quality improvement. Key program partners will actively participate in the evaluation process, providing valuable insights and feedback. Over the course of the five-year period, the project will focus on achieving the following objectives: 1) Collecting foundational data for informed decision-making, 2) Engaging in health policy development with tribal governments, 3) Leading a collaborative process for community health assessments, 4) Establishing community readiness, resilience, and preparedness, and 5) Providing health education and promotion initiatives to support prevention and wellness. Through strategic partnerships, targeted interventions, and the utilization of electronic health record software, the project aims to strengthen the public health systems and services available to the Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians. The outcomes will include improved health outcomes, reduced health disparities, and increased community readiness to address public health challenges. The project will serve as a model for neighboring tribal communities and contribute to the overall well-being and resilience of the Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians.
