MCNDH Strengthening Public Health Systems Project - Project Name: MCNDH Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services in Indian Country Project
Population Served: American Indian/Alaskan Native Individuals within the MCN Reservation
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health (MCNDH) proposed project seeks to enhance the MCNDH capacity across multiple domains. This includes improving their ability to conduct assessments and surveillance, effectively prepare for and respond to public health emergencies, and develop and support policies, communication strategies, community partnerships, organizational competencies, and accountability and performance management systems. Through the successful implementation of this project, MCNDH will be empowered to provide better support to the target population, identify and address challenging areas within the communities they serve, and elevate the tribal public health infrastructure, leading to improved health outcomes for AI/AN communities.
Utilizing Strategy 1: Foundational Public Health Capabilities, and Outcome 1: Improved capacity to develop public health programs and services to address prioritized public health activities in AI/AN communities, MCNDH expects to have the following outcomes:
Project Goal: Create a tribal public health infrastructure for key public health services in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation reservation.
• Short Term Outcome:
o Improved capacity to develop public health programs and services to address prioritized public health activities in AI/AN communities.

o Increased availability of/access to public health programs, services, and resources that address health disparities and/or social determinants of health in AI/AN communities.

By enhancing MCNDH's capacity to conduct assessments and surveillance, adequately prepare for and respond to public health emergencies, and develop and support policies, communication strategies, community partnerships, organizational competencies, and accountability and performance management systems, MCNDH will be better equipped to serve the target population. This improved capability will enable MCNDH to identify and address challenging areas within its communities, provide enhanced support to the target population, and elevate the tribal public health infrastructure.
