Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services through National Partnerships with Maternal-Fetal Medicine to Improve and Protect the Nation's Health - The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) is the national voice for more than 7,610 clinicians and researchers specializing in high-risk pregnancies. SMFM has a proven track record of leadership in the obstetric space by regularly distilling and disseminating rapidly changing information, prioritizing interdisciplinary engagement, and developing critical partnerships that further its mission of optimizing equitable outcomes for all perinatal people. This project proposal is directed towards Population of Focus Category C: Public Health System Components. The purpose of this program is to leverage the MFM workforce’s leadership and involvement in national efforts to decrease maternal mortality and morbidity and increase equitable pregnancy care. To do so, SMFM will lead a five (5)-year workforce assessment and enhancement plan focused on capacity building for MFMs. Gathering quantitative and qualitative data on the MFM workforce will guide SMFM in creating educational and professional development opportunities, establishing collaborative partnerships, and positioning an evolving workforce to participate in and lead solutions to improve maternal health in the United States. The proposed project aims to realize the following outcomes: -Increased availability of and access to capacity-building assistance (CBA) services and products that address the strategic areas. -Increased use of CBA services and products by populations of focus. -Increased awareness and understanding of recommended processes, policies, programs and practices within the strategic areas. -Increased implementation and sharing of recommended processes, policies, programs and practices within the strategic areas.
