Health Equity CBA for Non-profit leaders and their staff - The American Public Health Association (APHA) proposes working closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other partners to provide capacity building assistance that systematically improves the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the public health system. The target population for the proposed initiative is persons in formal leadership roles of non-profit organizations and their staff that support public health services delivery systems. Overall, the proposed project will develop a comprehensive training program with technical assistance support to help non-profit organizations build their capacity related to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility and facilitate efforts to infuse health equity concepts into their public health prevention efforts.
The proposed project will demonstrate measurable progress among leaders on non-profit organizations and their staff in the translation of health equity concepts into their prevention efforts and public health programs. By the end of the project period the target population will make progress towards the following outcomes : 1) Increased availability of and access to CBA services and products that address organizational capacity and performance improvement; 2) Enhanced skill and ability to support decision-making toward applying recommended processes, policies, programs, and practices within organizational capacity and performance improvement; 3) Increased awareness of best and promising practices and/or tools for leaders of non-profit organizations and their staff of CBA services and products 4) Increased use of CBA services and products by leaders of non-profit organizations and their staff; 5) Increased implementation and sharing of recommended processes, policies, programs and practices within organizational capacity and performance improvement and workforce strengthening. In addition to the outcomes required by CDC, APHA expects to achieve the following results given the proposed programs and strategies: 1) Improved capacity to establish and maintain partnerships within the public health system to create a shared vision of health equity. Ultimately, the CBA provided to this segment of the public health system will contribute to ensuring that organizations strengthen their internal infrastructure, competency and operations to be able to fully support equity centered work to reduce health disparities.
