Health Information Systems Program South Africa (HISP-SA) is happy to present the Year 3, Continuation Application for the CDC2123 project cooperative agreement from October 2023 to September 2024. The purpose of this cooperative agreement (COAG) between the Health Information Systems Programme South Africa (HISP-SA) and CDC is to provide technical assistance and support to the Health Information Systems (HIS) of the South African Department of Health, to transition from a standalone and fragmented information systems, particularly for HIV and TB, to integrated systems based on individuated patient data. This will be achieved through deliverables that focus on establishing robust governance structures and providing technical assistance in strengthening the Digital Health ecosystem by completing and solidifying the HPRS Hospital implementation, Linking PHC information systems to the NHLS, Providing Provincial DHIS support and transition operational functions to Provincial DoH. The intention was for HISP-SA to transition Provincial support to NDoH at the end of the previously supported CDC Khupukani II project. However, due to the lack of resources within the NDoH, HISP continues to provide essential support to Provinces with a priority on skills transfer and transition to the provinces, as requested by the NDoH.
