The purpose of this project is to provide additional services to the local non-profit Mt View Food Services (MVFS). Their program serves nutritional dinner meals to qualified consumers, who are 60 an above, the spouse of someone 60 and above or a disabled individual. Currently, under the COVID-19 pandemic, MVFS has increased it services to serving dinner meals to five nights a week and all operations have gone to delivery only. The fee for the meals is based on a $7.00 suggested donation only, but they do not ask for payment for any meals. Currently, they delivery vehicle is a 1996 Chevy Blazer with over 250,000 miles and is costing the organization more and more with repairs. Last week, their vehicle has gone down. We are requesting $28,000.00 to be used towards to purchase, delivery and one year of insurance on a new Subaru Forrester. These vehicles are low to the ground and provide a large cargo area in the back to haul the meals to be delivered. The remaining $12,000.00 would be used to supplement their program with the increasing costs of food, delivery containers, food serving supplies and proper PPE equipment.
