United Indian Health Services (UIHS) is honored to apply for the CDC-RFA-OT20-2004 Supporting Tribal Public Health Capacity in Coronavirus Preparedness and Response grant. UIHS will partner with six local tribes in Humboldt and Del Norte counties to engage in tribal public health emergency response to COVID-19. UIHS?s service area includes 16,000 clients in northwestern California. UIHS will work with the Blue Lake Rancheria, Big Lagoon Rancheria, Trinidad Rancheria, Resighini Rancheria, and the Tolowa Dee-ni and Wiyot Tribes to implement the project. Activities will include the following public health response activities: emergency operations and coordination, health information technology, surveillance and epidemiology, laboratory capacity, communications, countermeasures and mitigation, and recovery activities. Each partner Tribe has selected the activities most suited to their needs and population. The project will provide support for the expansion of critical public health activities that are essential to meet the needs in the rapidly evolving response to COVID-19.
