The Tule River Indian Health Center, Inc. (TRIHC) will implement the Tribal Public Health Capacity Project. The Tribal Public Health Capacity Project will enable the Tule River Indian Tribe to adequately and appropriately prepare for a surge in patients as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The TRIHC, which is located on the Tule River Indian Reservation in central California (Tulare County) does not currently have the vital equipment and supplies needed to address an epidemic/pandemic and/or the surge in patients driven by an epidemic/pandemic. The Tule River Indian Reservation is located in a rural, remote, rugged, and, often, isolated area that does not afford ready access to advanced acute medical services. As a result, the TRIHC must be prepared to test patients, triage patients, and control infection in an effective manner. The purchase of vitally needed equipment and supplies will enable the TRIHC to prepare for the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as for other potential public health emergencies.
