Hamilton County Public Health (HCPH) continues to work with a diverse group of local partners to reduce overdoses by using data to inform and approve linkage to care coordination across Hamilton County, Ohio. HCPH is focusing on multiple strategies to improve outcomes of individuals living with a substance use disorder. The Division of Epidemiology is collecting data from multiple sources to inform surveillance and prevention efforts. These sources include overdose death autopsies done through the Hamilton County Coroner's office, drug seizure data, and LCMSMS testing. Current initiatives being implemented through OD2A include: 1) Facilitate a community of practice of healthcare providers, 2) Collaborate with two other major county health departments as well as the state health department on OD2A initiatives, 3) Conduct an Overdose Fatality Review Committee that includes interviewing next of kin, 4) Establish links to are through a variety of mechanisms including but not limited to workforce development programs and a focus on access in the Hamilton County Addiction Response Coalition Harm Reduction Subcommittee, 5) Market mobile app developed to better inform on Hamilton County harm reduction services, 6) Provide resources, support, and training to healthcare providers on harm reduction practices and services in Hamilton County, 7) Increase partnerships with public safety through the implementation of the Handle with Care program and additional trauma informed trainings, 8) Maintain relationships and programs with key partners in Colerain Township through law enforcement assisted diversion program and referrals for first time drug offenders in the Northwest Local School District, and 9) Address stigma surrounding substance use disorder through implementation of a community wide survey, developing and implementing a stigma campaign, and continuing to expand the HCPH syringe service program throughout Hamilton County.
