Oklahoma Core State Injury Prevention Program - The Oklahoma State Department of Health Injury Prevention Service has designed implemented and evaluated a variety of injury prevention programs and surveillance systems since 1987. Recognized as the lead organization for injury prevention activities in Oklahoma the Injury Prevention Service has demonstrated a commitment to translating injury data into program and policy interventions conducting evaluations to improve outcomes and facilitating collaborations to advance the impact of injury prevention work. The purpose and goals of the Oklahoma Core State Injury Prevention Program Base Component are to engage in robust data and surveillance by building and enhancing systems to increase understanding of injury burden risk and protective factors and emerging injury threats strengthen partnership and collaboration to advance data utilization to inform public health action and conduct evaluation across strategies to inform data driven decision making and ongoing programmatic improvement. Strategies and activities will be designed to target three focus areas traumatic brain injuries transportation safety and adverse childhood experiences. The Oklahoma Core program will focus on implementation and evaluation of injury prevention programs and policies based on the best available evidence. Strategy 1 will focus on the identification of injury data sources data analysis surveillance products and widespread dissemination to stakeholders and partners to drive public health action. Strategy 2 will build and strengthen relationships with key traditional and nontraditional partners that are multisectoral and crosscutting in nature. Evidence based interventions will be supported and implemented to address root causes of injury including the promotion of shared protective factors and reduction of shared risk factors. Assessment and evaluation for Strategy 3 will be integrated to inform Strategies 1 and 2 to advance data driven public health action to prevent injury. The Oklahoma Core program will achieve a variety of short and intermediate term outcomes such as increases in knowledge and understanding system and infrastructure improvements capacity building and stakeholder engagement. The long term outcomes of the Oklahoma Core program will be to affect change related to ACEs transportation safety and TBIs including reduce and sustain injury morbidity and mortality reduce risk and increase and sustain protective factors.
