BVRHS will use the funding from this grant opportunity to continue to fund the Idaho Violent Death Reporting System (IdVDRS). The IdVDRS currently collects and disseminates data on violent deaths from three different sources: Idaho death certificates, Idaho county coroners, and law enforcement. The data that come from the IdVDRS is used to inform stakeholders and to improve planning, implementation, and evaluation of violence prevention policies and programs. This is primarily executed using the IdVDRS data dashboard located on the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s GetHealthyIdaho website (http://www.gethealthy.dhw.idaho.gov). This project will have multiple outcomes over the grant timeline. These outcomes include but are not limited to: improving completeness, timeliness, and quality of violent death surveillance data; improving relationships with key partners, including data providers and program stakeholders; increase access to NVDRS data by the public and program partners; improvement by partners in how they inform the design, increase effectiveness of violence prevention efforts in Idaho; decreased morbidity and mortality due to violence; and increased use of innovative methods of utilizing IdVDRS data. IdVDRS will also be taking advantage of the optional data dashboard funding opportunity as a way to expand the current IdVDRS data dashboard.
