Youth 4 hoods is a group of passionate and dedicated individuals from all sectors of the community working to reduce youth access and availability of alcohol, marijuana, and prescription pills by empowering youth to advocate for healthier communities. Through the Youth 4 Hoods coalition, we seek to increase youth civic participation in prevention but more importantly, improve leadership and public speaking skills. Youth 4 Hoods provides information and brings awareness to the impacts of alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs to our community through presentations, workshops, social media platforms, town halls, and radio programming. These events aim to educate and engage youth while increasing youth and community awareness of the consequences of toxic substance use. Through these events/activities, students will have the opportunity to gain experience using radio equipment, photo editing software, and camera equipment. In addition to educating our community, the Youth 4 Hoods coalition focuses on policy advocacy. Pueblo y Salud has partnered with organizations and groups that recommend, educate, and suggest policies to lawmakers. Through these partnerships, students will have the unique opportunity to meet local and state lawmakers and aid in recommending policies that prioritize public health.
