CDC-RFA-TU24-0142 Regional Centers for Public Health Preparedness and Response, Region 6 - Abstract Title: Region 6 Center for Health Security and Response Readiness Tulane is applying to Components B, C, D. Component B: Establish a Regional Center for Public Health Preparedness and Response The major goal of this component is to establish a Regional Center to provide training and technical assistance to State, Territorial, Local, and Tribal public health agencies to increase the uptake of Evidence-Based Strategies and Interventions (EBSIs) to improve public health preparedness and response. The activities associated with this component are consistent with the workplan that was developed in this first year of the planning contract (which Tulane was awarded). We will be providing training, exercises, and technical assistance to public health partners throughout Region VI related to the focus areas identified by the Regional Coordinating Body we worked with this year. Those prioritized focus areas are currently: Workforce Professional Development, Training, and Coordination; Cross-sector Training and Partnerships; Data and Information Governance, Collection, and Management Communication; and a few specific areas including coordination between public health and emergency management; rural communities preparedness; mass gathering awareness and training; climate influenced threats; Emergency operations coordination for public health. Our work would include: 1) Establish a Regional PHPR Center 2) Establish a Steering Committee for the region supported by the contract 3) Develop activities to meet objectives prioritized in the Five-Year Regional Work Plan 4) Execute and evaluate activities included in your plans for implementation Component C: Coordinate and Support the Network of 10 Regional Centers The major goal of this component is to function as the coordinator of the Network of 10 Centers funded across the United States. The primary activities will be to: • coordinate virtual networking meetings with funded regional centers; • plan and host virtual meetings • enhance EBSI inventory to incorporate new EBSIs and maintain a database; • host in-person meetings as a subcomponent of national preparedness conference. • provide technical assistance to the Centers, connecting them to resources and partners; We will be partnering with the National Network of Public Health Institutes for Component C. Component D: Plan and implement additional activities to conduct basic and applied research. Activities may include: • develop a regional work plan and activities to address needs of underserved population and implement and evaluate those activities • apply or enhance the evidence base through development, implementation, evaluation, dissemination, or translation of strategies and interventions. • educate and train practitioners to enhance the PHEPR science workforce • conduct basic or applied research or use and expand relevant technological and analytical capabilities to inform future and current public health and medical response and recovery efforts. Through each component, Tulane-CAEPH's aims to increase the reach and uptake of EBSIs in Region 6. Our infrastructure and partnerships will provide our team with the necessary components to increase awareness, availability, and access to EBSIs.
