Project Abstract Summary - Minneapolis Health DepartmentMinneapolis, the most populous city in Minnesota, is home to 420,324 residents, of which sixty percent are white. COVID-19 has shown again how the City?s communities of color are disproportionately impacted when it comes to health outcomes. Age-adjusted rates of COVID-19 in Minneapolis are significantly higher for Hispanics and Black residents, as compared to White residents. Additionally, Blacks and American Indians, were 3 and 5 times more likely to be hospitalized due to COVID than Whites. The Target Populations for this grant will be Minneapolis Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities, residents of Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) high rise buildings, and the LGBTQ community. With some targeted and limited strategies geared toward the unsheltered homeless and substance use disorder populations.With the goal of decreasing disparities and the overall rates and impact of COVID-19, the Minneapolis Health Department will work with community partners to implement strategies that will work towards that goal.
