The BOUND for Healthy Youth Coalition's mission is to prevent and reduce youth substance use through education, collaboration, and community-wide change in Bound Brook and South Bound Brook, NJ. - The BOUND for Healthy Youth Coalition serves the cities of Bound Brook and South Bound Brook New Jersey, a diverse, multicultural, suburban community with a combined population of 16,737 residents. The BOUND for Healthy Youth Coalition’s mission is to prevent and reduce youth substance use through education, collaboration, and community-wide change. Key outcomes for the grant are (1) Give individuals in Bound Brook and South Bound Brook the resources they need to combat youth substance use in order to decrease underage drinking and marijuana use in the community; and (2) Establish and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the community in order to support the efforts of the Coalition. The Coalition plans to achieve these goals through implementation of the following strategies: 1) Reduce youth access to alcohol and marijuana. 2) Reduce pro-alcohol and marijuana perceptions by youth. 3) Increase youth and parent perceptions of risk of harm and youth substance use disapproval. 4) Build the coalition’s capacity to effectively address youth substance use. 5) Create coalition sustainability, ensuring the future of long-term prevention programming in the community and 6) Mobilize coalition members to develop and deliver collaborative prevention activities, events and programs throughout Bound Brook and South Bound Brook.
