Strengthening vaccine-preventable disease prevention and response in Alaska - The State of Alaska Immunization Program is committed to the prevention of disease, disability, and death through immunizations and by the control of vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD). The Immunization Program protects Alaskans and communities around the state from VPDs through both federal and state funds. The goals for the Immunization Program include: providing vaccines to health care providers at no charge; providing an immunization information system (IIS) for use by health care providers and schools to maintain consolidated immunization records of all ages; supporting school and childcare compliance with immunization regulations; providing immunization education and training for health care providers and the general public; coordinating surveillance and control efforts for VPDs; and supporting efforts to increase vaccinations for all Alaskans. For the 25-007 Strengthening Vaccine-Preventable Disease Prevention and Response Cooperative Agreement, the Immunization Program is applying to Components 1, 2, and 3. The period of performance for this Cooperative Agreement is application is 7/1/2025 through 6/30/2030. This federal funding opportunity will assist Alaska with improving and sustaining vaccination access and coverage among children, adolescents, and adults; reducing vaccination disparities across pediatric, adolescent and adult populations; improving readiness to respond to VPD outbreaks and other related public health emergencies; reducing the incidence of VPDs; and reducing VPD-related morbidity and mortality. This funding will support Alaska with the development, implementation, assessment, and promotion of immunization related activities with the goal of improving vaccine access for all Alaskans, promoting vaccine confidence, enhancing data and evaluation, supporting partnerships, and enhancing vaccination response readiness. This funding opportunity will also assist Alaska with implementing, developing, and enhancing the Immunization Information Systems (IIS) to support public health objectives. The Alaska Immunization Program will use a collaborative approach to improve vaccination coverage and access to vaccine for the state’s population.
