Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program - Daemen University 4380 Main Street Amherst, NY 14226-3544 Dr. Diane Bessel (716)566-7876 dbessel@daemen.edu www.daemen.edu Funds requested: $2,379,996 Daemen is requesting Funding Preference 1 Daemen seeks support from the BHWET to educate and train health care workers to provide integrated behavioral health care and committed to work in high-need and high-demand areas. To achieve this goal, Daemen will follow these four standard project objectives: 1. Provide traineeships to 48 diverse master’s-level social work students interested in working with children, adolescents, and young adults 2. Develop and/or expand 15 community partnerships with experiential training sites in high-need and high-demand areas over the four-year project period. 3. Recruit, develop, and expand the capacity of 30 clinical supervisors to support and mentor behavioral health trainees. 4. Provide 16 training opportunities to promote collaborative training by using team-based models of care to integrate behavioral health care into interprofessional primary care settings over the project period. Project outcomes: Traineeship: 92% of trainees will successfully complete traineeship program; 92% of trainees will graduate from Daemen MSW Program; 83% of trainees will apply for a job with the intent to work in primary care, MUC, and/or rural area within six months of graduation; and 75% of trainees will work in primary care, MUC, or rural area within one year of graduation. Community Partnerships: 15 executed agreements by the end of the project period and 75% of sites will be primary care and/or located in a MUC and/or rural area. Clinical Supervisors: 86% of clinical supervisors will self-report increased knowledge and skills related to clinical supervision and expanded capacity to support and mentor behavioral health trainees. Training: 87.5% of training participants self-report increased knowledge and skills related to team-based models of care and related to interprofessional/integrated behavioral health care.
