University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) supports a large integrated military-civilian partnership - the Las Vegas Military-Civilian Partnership (LV-MCP) - in conjunction with three military commands, a local school of medicine, and private corporate partners in Las Vegas, NV. The project goal is to sustainably improve military trauma care providers’ readiness and ability to respond to and treat battlefield injuries while simultaneously improving local response to public health and medical emergencies in southern Nevada. The objectives for the project include: 1) Regular military rotations of an estimated 310 multi-specialty providers per year are implemented to provide hands-on care to patients at the top of their scope of practice in acute care clinical areas; 2) An estimated total 300 practitioner medical staff appointments accomplished in acute care specialties; 3) A 74-person military personnel integrated cadre is supported to facilitate continuous rotations from local and distant bases; and 4) Measure and evaluate program outcomes. Expected project outcomes include: 1) Improved trauma treatment and care knowledge for 310 providers (per year for three project years) in acute care clinical areas; 2) Increased access to trauma training and practice through maintaining credentialling of active practitioners and full credentialing of 300 new appointments (100 per year for three project years); and 3) Improved trauma treatment and care knowledge of 74 embedded cadre (per year for three project years) by facilitating continuous rotations from local and distant bases. Project products include: 1) An annual report including the total number of participating providers and facility expenditures; and 2) Articles for publication describing the results of the partnership model.
