The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) supports the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Small Grants Program with over 17 years of providing small grants and resources to the MRC network. The project goal is to build MRC capabilities to meet community public health and medical emergency response needs, identify response barriers, and develop a national sustainability. NACCHO's approach is to develop volunteer and unit response capabilities through MRC unit small grants, MRC unit and stakeholder collaborations, and emergency response development. Objectives are: 1) provide MRC units and states small and moderate grants; 2) promote common deployment readiness guidelines; 3) identify and promote MRC network capabilities; 4) foster collaboration between MRC units and stakeholders for MRC; 5) develop and promote an MRC unit leader training series; and 6) promote MRC brand awareness and recognition. The expected outcomes are 1) increased MRC unit preparedness and response capabilities; 2) strengthened understanding of standard MRC deployment readiness practices; 3) enhanced understanding of network response capabilities; 4) increased peer-to-peer networking and learning opportunities for unit leaders and stakeholders; 5) strengthened unit leader capabilities; and 6) enhanced MRC brand awareness. The products are: 1) interim/final funding award reports and MRC unit project deliverables; 2) dissemination and promotion of Deployment Readiness Guide; 3) creation, dissemination and promotion of MRC Network Profiles; 4) three MRC Regional Meetings with unit leaders and stakeholders; 5) dissemination and promotion of unit leader training series; and 6) communications products (monthly newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and promotions) through online platforms and national conferences.
