To continue to build the capabilities of MRC units in the state of Utah to meet needs during emergencies and disasters including the ability to coordinate across jurisdictional boundaries; attachment - The Utah Department of Health supports this three year MRC Small Grant Program project in conjunction with the local MRC units throughout the state. The goal of this project is to build the response capabilities of the local MRC units. The approach will be focus on statewide activities and to provide sub-awards to MRC units to implement localized activities for recruitment, training and exercises. The objectives are: 1) to provide expanded opportunities for MRC volunteers to attend the statewide MRC Conference; 2) to identify developmental enhancements to the ESAR-VHP system; 3) to build local capacity of MRC units; and 4) to improve multi-jurisdictional coordination to better leverage MRC volunteers. The outcomes of this project are to have prepared MRC volunteers ready to respond, to enhance intrastate coordination to respond to disasters and events outside jurisdictional boundaries and to ensure a robust ESAR-VHP system to meet response needs.
