Technical Assistance to Obtain Local Level Governmental and CommunityInput for National Health Security Related Activities - As the voice for the nation’s 2,800 local health departments (LHDs) across the United States, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is uniquely positioned to partner with ASPR to achieve the goal of this project. Specifically, the goal is to support local communities in coordinating their national security roles and responsibilities to achieve community health resilience and strengthen health care, public health and emergency management systems. To achieve the goal, NACCHO will conduct activities to meet measurable program objectives including: • By September 29, 2017, NACCHO will foster community health resilience at the local level by collecting and analyzing survey data and providing quarterly peer-to-peer learning opportunities for our members, • By September 29, 2017, NACCHO will provide ASPR with quarterly opportunities to engage local health departments and officials in a dialogue around national health security, • By September 29, 2017, NACCHO will recognize five LHDs through the NHSS Award Program, and will host two regional workshops to solicit LHD feedback on the 2019-2022 National Health Security Strategy and Implementation Plan, and • By September 29, 2017, NACCHO will provide ASPR with quarterly opportunities to provide technical assistance to LHDs and communities related to NHSS, HPP, or other preparedness initiatives. Through a number of key tasks and activities, NACCHO will work with ASPR to support their achievement of this goal by both building on previous project work as well as developing new and innovative methods to improve community health resilience.
