FY 2024 Behavioral Health Service Expansion - Great Mines proposed project will increase access to mental health and substance misuse services including treatment with medications for opioid use disorder services for its service area. The project will primarily focus on maintaining its existing workforce that provides integrated care in the local community, nurturing partnerships with local prevention and treatment agencies, and expanding access points to its behavioral health program. The overall goal is to continue to provide a local health care environment that can respond to all patients’ mental health and substance misuse needs. The project will serve Washington and St. Francois Counties. This project will provide behavioral health services that includes screening, medication management, counseling, and enabling services. As Great Mines continues to expand medical services within its service area, this increases the volume of referrals and patients in need of behavioral health services as well. The proposed project will ensure that affordable, outpatient behavioral health and substance misuse treatment services continue. The project will serve youth through the current school-based program, patients at the health center's two clinics, and add new access points through its MIH program and jail-based program via in-person and telehealth services. Special emphasis will be placed on high-risk populations particularly individuals experiencing a non-fatal overdose (emergency room or first responder utilization) and will also include justice-involved populations and school-aged youth. Great Mines behavioral health project will: • Provide whole person care with integrated, comprehensive primary care and behavioral health care. • Enhance standardized screening processes for all patients receiving care at the health center. Screening for depression, anxiety, substance misuse, and suicidal ideation, during all assessments. • Eliminate wait lists and far-ahead scheduling by increasing access to services locally. • Expand access to misappropriated populations through Mobile Integrated Healthcare which will provide services to patients in their home, conduct field induction suboxone (MOUD), and specialized care for the maternal health population. • Develop coordinated approaches with local carceral authorities regarding the provision of substance use disorder (SUD) services, including medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), for the 90-day pre-release transitional incarcerated population. Great Mines Health Center’s Health Center Program grant number is H80CS06670.
