Fiscal Year 2025 Expanded Hours. - Through this project, Opsam Health proposes to expand its hours of operation for Primary Care, Behavioral Health Care, and Cardiology at its Main southern San Diego County location, namely, the Opsam Main Clinic at 2743 Highland Ave., National City, CA 91950. The expanded operating hours (of 8-5 Saturdays) are being proposed in response to identified patient needs--as seen in Health Center Program GeoCare Navigator data, as well as multiple local/regional surveys conducted by the San Diego County DHHS, Kaiser Permanente, the Hospital Association of San Diego & Imperial Counties, CHIS, and multiple other sources, including our recent HRSA Site Visit Protocol assessment. The services chosen for Saturday Extended Hours were selected based on client feedback to a survey conducted by Opsam Health itself. This survey was sent to 6,000 Opsam patients, who comprise ALL National City area clients who have used our services in the past 3 years. We designed our response to this HRSA opportunity to address the needs articulated by the low-income families we serve in partnership with such families. It is common for the adult heads of household of Opsam Health families to be working multiple jobs to "make ends meet." San Diego was recently named as one of five U.S. cities that are considered “impossibly unaffordable” when it comes to housing by Realtor.com. 77% of Opsam clients live below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, and 94% live under 200% FPL, even though all household partners may be working at multiple low-paying jobs to support the family. NOTE: This proposal was carefully designed to dovetail / synergize with Opsam's recent grant submission under the HRSA BHSE program (which, if funded, will create four new Behavioral Health service rooms in National City, CA). By funding BOTH proposals, HRSA will be meeting the medical, behavioral, and cardiology health needs of our southern-region families--and the benefit to Behavioral Health clients, including those who are in need of SUD Services, will be particularly noteworthy, since the proposed BHSE expansion alone will not be able to meet the demand for BH/SUD services in our County's southern region. However, if both proposals are funded Behavioral services will be significantly improved in Southern San Diego County--and Primary Care and Cardiology care will benefit by a 20% increase in service, as well.
