Salud provides comprehensive health care services that respond to patient and community needs and designed to address the social determinants of health. Salud provides medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services, integrated to deliver quality, coordinated care. Salud operates as both a migrant and community health center and provides in-face and telehealth visits. Salud intends to use this funding opportunity to increase access to colorectal cancer screening in our service area by employing patient navigators from the Colorado Cancer Center and referring patients to Salud’s colonoscopy and endoscopy suite. By providing screening in-house, at an affordable cost, based on our sliding fee scale, this eliminates the largest barrier faced by uninsured, or underinsured patients. By increasing the number of patients screened earlier for colorectal cancer, we can reduce the death rate and the overall cost of care by supporting prevention, instead of costly treatment options, which are often not available to a low-income, largely uninsured population.
