As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), HHM Health offers integrated family medicine, women’s health, pediatrics, dental, vision, pharmaceutical, and behavioral health care to patients regardless of ability to pay. Formal agreements expand access to other services, including intrapartum care and laboratory services. Established to serve as a safety net provider, HHM Health sees patients at 12 service delivery sites targeting those living at or below 200% Federal Poverty Level (FPL), the uninsured, and Medicaid/Medicare recipients. In 2017, HHM Health became a FQHC, ensuring the organization could provide a variety of healthcare services to patients on a sliding fee discount schedule, removing financial barriers to care. Women’s health and pediatric centers were opened in 2018, and in 2019, HHM Health served over 20,000 patients. HHM Health started providing vision services in 2020, and an imaging center, nutrition education room, 340B pharmacy, and a Child’s Play Therapy room were added in an expansion in 2022. Two new clinics were opened in 2024, in South Dallas and Mesquite, as well as a Pediatric Mobile Unit to reach more children and youth in the community. Three new clinics are opening in 2025 in Arlington, Irving, and Little Elm to include portions of Tarrant and Denton counties in the North Texas service area. Today, HHM Health is the second largest FQHC in Texas. In 2024, HHM Health served over 16,000 unique patients, totaling over 61,000 patient visits, serving an average of 250 patients each day. Today, this average is closer to 300. According to the 2024 Uniform Data System (UDS) report, of the 9,934 patients with reported incomes, 28.69% were at 100% FPL and 59.63% were at 200% FPL. Of the total 16,061 served, 6,832 (42.54%) were uninsured, and 6,885 (42.87%) were public insurance users. HHM Health anticipates serving at least 17,000 unduplicated patients during the designation period. HHM Health’s service area is home to approximately 4,404,220 residents, 1,215,663 of whom have been classified as low-income and 725,113 of whom do not have health insurance and are not currently being served by a health center. HHM Health’s service area encompasses 121 Zip Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs). HHM Health received the Gold Seal of approval from the Joint Commission in 2022 and again in 2025. HHM Health is a Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) deemed health center, whereby it has medical malpractice liability protection through the FTCA, and complies with HRSA’s Bureau of Primary Health Care requirements for evidence-based health care delivery and outcomes. Service Area Competition funding will enable the health center to continue providing comprehensive health services that are both accessible and affordable to underserved populations living in Dallas and surrounding areas.
