Project Compass: Guiding Youth Toward Prevention, Recovery, and Hope - Project Compass: Guiding Youth Toward Prevention, Recovery, and Hope. Project Compass is a comprehensive, recovery-oriented model designed to prevent substance misuse, expand access to evidence-based treatment, and strengthen long-term recovery for adolescents and young adults affected by opioid and other substance use disorders. Serving Pima County, Arizona, Project Compass integrates prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, recovery support, family engagement, and community partnerships to reduce overdose risk and improve behavioral health outcomes for youth and young adults. La Frontera Center (LFC) will implement Project Compass throughout Pima County, serving a population of approximately 1.07 million residents. The program will provide services to 150 unduplicated adolescents and young adults, ages 13 through 24, each year, serving 450 unduplicated participants over the three-year project period. Participants will include youth and young adults with opioid use disorder (OUD), other substance use disorders (SUD), co-occurring mental health conditions, or those at risk for substance misuse who require prevention, treatment, recovery support, and wraparound services. Project Compass will improve access to care by providing comprehensive assessments and initial treatment planning for 100% of enrolled participants at intake, engaging 90% of participants identified as needing treatment in recommended treatment and recovery support services, and delivering evidence-based education to at least 500 youth, families, school personnel, and community members annually. Through an integrated continuum of prevention, treatment, recovery, and community collaboration, Project Compass advances SAMHSA's strategic priorities by preventing substance misuse, expanding access to evidence-based care, promoting recovery, and strength.
