Tribal Opioid Response Grant - Project Abstract Summary Summary: The CS & K Tribes TOR Project will continue our media campaign to provide ongoing education and awareness about the opioid/fentanyl crises and stimulant abuse. TOR intends to increase and expand harm reductions services, supplies and outreach to local tribal residents. TOR will provide recovery support to those involved in recovery with the Tribal Behavioral Health, Tribal Health’s MAT Program, other MAT Programs and other recovery support programs, such as NARSS. TOR will continue to provide workplace development within the local community, Tribal Programs and other groups on Opioids/Fentanyl, Harm Reduction and Reducing Stigma. This will also include financial support for those seeking to become Certified Peer Mentors and those programs/individuals who are seeking training in Native cultural models that are more appropriate and relevant for local tribal residents. TOR will collaborate with local programs, groups and schools in providing Youth Substance Abuse Prevention activities, training, and curriculum. TOR will provide ongoing support for Tribal Health’s MAT Program by identifying and facilitating treatment and specialized training needs for Medical staff, Behavioral Health staff and those other agencies also working in conjunction with those receiving MOUD. Project Name: “Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes (CS&KT) Tribal Opioid Response Project” Population Served: Tribal Members, descendants and members of other Tribes living on the Flathead Indian Reservation who meet the diagnostic criteria for Opioid Use Disorder IOUD) and Stimulant Use Disorder. Demographics: The project service area will be the Flathead Indian Reservation which encompasses 1.3 million acres and is 70 miles long and 40 miles wide. Strategies: • Ongoing support for MOUD and Tribal Health’s MAT Program and MAT Clients • Expand harm reduction services, including easier access to Narcan/Naloxone • Workforce development activities • Community Education and youth prevention outreach • Recovery Support Services. Goals: Our overall project goals are 1. Provide ongoing training for Medical Providers for MAT and Behavioral Health Staff 2. TOR will reduce the risk of fatal overdoses by expanding easier access to Narcan/Naloxone for the tribal community 3. Reduce stigma and assist with developing a quality standard of care for PWUD through Media campaign, education and training. 4. TOR will collaborate with local schools and other agencies to address Youth Substance Use 5. TOR will provide financial assistance for those needing sober living/transitional living services, Medication Assisted Treatment not provided by Tribal Health or other local medical providers
