The St. Croix Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) project, 2024-2029, will focus on decreasing opioid use, stimulant use, and opioid overdoses for American Indians within the St. Croix community by providing support for tribally-provided medication assisted treatment / medications for opioid use disorders, outpatient substance use treatment services, contracted residential treatment and transitional living services, and case management/care coordination. The project will also decrease barriers to treatment and recovery services by providing cultural and treatment materials, providing hygiene kits for those entering residential treatment and recovery services, providing transportation cost assistance and supporting a care coordinator/transporter who will provide transportation to a continuum of treatment services, structured recovery and cultural activities to community members with opioid and/or stimulant use disorders. The program will also support the use of evidence-based practices and community defined evidence practices by outpatient behavioral health clinical staff by funding continuing education related to treatment of substance use and co-occurring disorders. The TOR project will also fund peer support training for one individual per year. In addition, funds will be used to support capacity building activities including the development of a grants management database. The St. Croix Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) project, 2024-2029 will serve 20 unduplicated individuals per year, totaling 100 individuals over the five-year project.
