RVIT TOR Weaving Connections will work with our Tribal community to promote our Tribal MAT program. This grant will serve to enhance these essential services in our community. The programs aim is to address the opioid crisis in Round Valley by increasing access to culturally appropriate and evidence-based treatment, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) using one of the three FDA-approved medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). In addition to focusing on OUD specifically fentanyl, we plan to also address the stimulant misuse of cocaine and methamphetamine which has substantial adverse effects on our community. We hope to provide services that will meet the needs of our target population ultimately reducing OUD and stimulant misuse deaths, through increasing treatment options, recovery support services and increase prevention efforts. According to our Tribal Police and Local Sherriff’s Department in the past year alone 90% of all calls received were related to substance use, in which meth is the most prevalent drug reported. There were also five overdose related calls however we have had 19 overdoses in our community in 2022, to date.
