Grant Summary: Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation Community & Family Wellness Department is requesting substance abuse funding that will strengthen the current services by providing a full range of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery support for tribal families to reduce the incidence of relapse. The Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation plans to enhance the current services being offered to native families by: 1. Provide advocacy and funding to increase the availability of residential treatment options for adults and youth by sending referrals and providing funding for residential treatment for up to 5 individuals annually. 2. Increase the availability of intensive supports by providing funding for safe and sober transitional housing; provide transportation support in rural areas that keep participants connected to program services and increase cultural connections and activities. 3. Increasing prevention services to adults, youth, and families by providing resources at community events to increase knowledge of opioid addiction, strategic messaging on social media, radio stations and tribal newsletters. 4. Providing Harm Prevention/Reduction by increasing training to community member, and community partners in recognition of opioid overdose and the use of naloxone. Increase the availability of receptacles for safe needle disposal. Increase the availability of naloxone to first responders, tribal staff, mental health workers, and community members.
