Integrity House Pregnant and Postpartum Women’s Residential Treatment Program - Integrity, Inc., doing business as Integrity House and Integrity, plans to implement a residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program in Newark for pregnant and postpartum women (PPW) living with SUD. Housed inside of a Department of Health (DOH)-licensed 18-bed SUD treatment facility on Integrity’s Newark campus, the program will serve ten women annually, including a combination of PPW residing alone and those residing with their non-adult children, over the course of five years, reaching 50 women during the initial funding period. The program will address the prevalence of high risk pregnancy, negative postpartum experiences, and family dislocation resulting from parental substance use and untreated mental health complications by achieving the following goals: 1. To increase the number of pregnant and postpartum women living with SUD who are in sustained recovery from alcohol and non-prescribed drugs. 2. To improve the mental health of pregnant and postpartum women. 3. To improve the physical health of pregnant women with SUD. 4. To help pregnant and postpartum women strengthen their family systems. 5. To reduce the impact of adverse social determinants of health (SDOH) in the lives of pregnant and postpartum women and their families. Adult residents of the facility will receive counseling and recovery support services spanning the entire American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) continuum of care, including prevention and harm reduction, high and low intensity residential treatment, outpatient care, and medication assisted treatment (MAT) for the management of chronic substance use. The non-adult children residing in the program will be assessed for biopsychosocial needs and referred to appropriate services within Integrity House and through strategic partnerships with community providers, including providers of pediatric care and early childhood development services. While in the program, parents, their children, and other significant family members identified by the parent will engage with the evidence-based Strengthening Families curriculum to address family dislocation caused by parental substance use and other adverse social determinants of health (SDOH). For the purpose of this initiative, Integrity House has established strategic partnerships with other community based service providers to ensure an effective whole-person – and whole family – approach to care, including: • Newark Beth Israel Medical Center - Prenatal, Perinatal, Childbirth, and Pediatric Services. • Newark Department of Health Mary Eliza Mahoney Health Center - Primary Care and Pediatric Care for all participants. • The Leaguer’s, Inc. – Childcare and Early Childhood Development services. • No. Jersey Community Research Initiative – Harm Reduction, Prevention, & HIV Services.
