Harris Health System Primary Care and Jail Health Medication-Assisted Treatment Project. This project will address the opioid crisis in Houston and surrounding Harris County, Texas and the behavioral health needs of Harris Health System patients with opioid use disorder by providing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in the primary care setting and linkage to recovery services, including services for incarcerated individuals within four months of release from jail. The projects goals are 1) to increase the number of Harris Health System patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) receiving medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and 2) to decrease illicit opioid drug use and prescription opioid misuse among Harris Health patients at six-month follow-up. This program will serve 150 patients in Year 1, 200 in Year 2, 200 in Year 3, 250 in Year 4, 250 in Year 5, and 1,050 Total.
