The SAC Health System Medication-Assisted Treatment – Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction (MAT-PDOA) Program’s population of focus is adults living in the geographic catchment area of the Inland Empire (IE) region of Southern California (CA). Based on the screening, referral rate, and follow through percentages experienced in 2020, SAC Health System anticipates the following patients to be served: forecasted # of substance use disorder patients 1,795 and 862 with opioid use disorder. The SAC Health System MAT-PDOA Program will: 1) Provide MAT using FDA-approved medication in combination with comprehensive OUD psychosocial services 2) Conduct an appropriate clinical assessment 3) Check CURES Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) at each visit 3) Conduct screening and assessment for co-occurring disorders 4) Establish and implement a plan to mitigate the risk of diversion 5) Develop outreach and engagement strategies 6) Ensure all applicable practitioners obtain a DATA waiver 7) Build funding mechanisms and service delivery models 8) Use telehealth services 9) Provide Peer Recovery Support Services The purpose of the SAC Health System MAT-PDOA Program is to increase in the number of individuals with OUD receiving MAT and to impact a decrease in illicit opioid drug use and prescription opioid misuse at six-month follow-up. The IE is a metropolitan area and region and includes Riverside and San Bernardino (SB) Counties. The combined land area of the counties of the IE is larger than ten of the smallest states. The metropolitan area covers more than 27,000 square miles (70,000 km2) and has a population of approximately 4 million. SACHS is targeting our current Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) locations in the IE.
