Opioid Response Network: Collaborating, Advancing, Responding, Educating - The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) and a coalition of 40 national interprofessional health, behavioral health and justice-involved organizations form the Opioid Response Network (ORN). ORN currently leads the delivery of technical assistance (TA) to US state and territory State Opioid Response (SOR) grantees, sub-recipients and others addressing opiois use disorder (OUD), and increasingly stimulant use disorder (StUD), in theircommunities. ORN delivers education and training of substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, treatment and recovery evidence-based practices (EBPs) to meetlocally identified needs. Established TA teams with experience addressing SUDs include technology transfer specialists, who facilitate on-the-ground, culturally appropriate TA, andprevention, treatment and recovery consultants. Teams are assigned to every stat and territory and all consultants, including physicians, nurses and allied health professionals with expertise in addiction medicine, areformally vetted by ORN. All evidence based education and TAprovided is defined andsupported by the ORN consortium, which is led by AAAP, Columbia University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network. Thebroad consortium has the capacity to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate, state-of-the-art, evidence-based TA and is committed to improving racial, ethnic, cultural and linguistic competence, as well as awareness and compettencies for treating OUD and StUD in underserved and under-resouced communities that oftenexperience persistent health disparities. The primary goals of the consortiumare to: 1) provide SOR grantees, sub-recipients and others addressingOUDs/StUDs across the US with direct access to local expertsthat can provide customized TA, and2) support the provision of evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery support programs/services to treat individuals at risk of, or living with OUDs and StUDs. Since May 2018, ORN has responded to over 2,000 TA requests completed over 3,000 individual activities as a result of these requests and provided education and training for over 18,000 people who participated in ORN activities. By August 31, 2022 ORN will provide training in evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery support services to at least an additional 20,000 individuals through up to 4,000 requests for TA. ORN's 27 performance measures include the number of individuals/practitioners who 1) initiate traing in EBPs, 2) are trained on EBPs and 3) implement training in EBPs for OUD prevention, treatment and recovery, overdose recognition and naloxone use, as well as StUD prevention, treatment, recovery and overdose recognition.
