Knik Opioid Response Program
This project is aiming to assist those suffering from opioid use disorder (OUD) within the Mat-Su Borough. The Mat-Su Borough is nestled north of Anchorage, Alaska and is home to over 100,000 residents of the State of Alaska, 15% of which being Alaska Native or Native American. Knik Tribe plans to partner with Southcentral Foundation in providing referral, transportation, and therapeutic services to this afflicted population, whom up until now, has had no feasible access to OUD treatment. Motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy will be the main modalities used in treating OUD, coupled with medication assisted treatment from Southcentral Foundation. It is proposed that 70 individuals, in total, will be serviced throughout the span of this project. During the first year there will be 26 individuals served and 44 individuals will be served during the second year. Hopefully, by the end of the project, Knik Tribe will have the experience, knowledge, and resources necessary to sustain this opioid response program perpetually.
